There was a discussion on the dev forum about starting to release the castle projects, please do it.
I know certain projects are not totally complete or doco is missing but just go ahead and release something, and we can fix things as we go.
A big projects that just works is Monorail, trunk version is stable and provides a lot more than RC3.
Just do it!!163 votes
You say, you get:
Active Record: http://mortslikeus.blogspot.com/2009/08/activerecord-20.html
MonoRail 2.0 is released: https://sourceforge.net/projects/castleproject/files/MonoRail/2.0/Castle.MonoRail-2.0.0.zip/download
Trunk compiles and passes all tests on Silverlight 3. Testing and feedback is still appreciated though!
Release an official version even it is necessary to document the known problems or limitations. Uptake and feedback should increase if more people are using it. Many places unable to get buy in from management if they have to get it from the trunk.52 votes
Done as part of v3.0 rollout
The ORM generator would be working on the new Visual Studio 2010 beta 2. Imagine the new features of the silverlight and ria services working aside ActiveWriter and castle project.48 votes
You can grab it at: https://github.com/castleprojectcontrib/Projects/tree/master/activewriter/.
There are a lot of monorail patches in Donjon that need to be reviewed.
At the moment there are 74 opened issues, and a lot of these have patches in them.
If the patches are invalid please let us know?40 votes
I know that tooling support is not on par with svn yet, but I think moving to a DVCS (git, hg) would make patch management and contributing to the project easier in the long run.37 votes
Castle is now officially hosted on GitHub – fork away! http://github.com/castleproject
The contrib contains Linq2AR, an adaption of NHlinq onto ActiveRecord.
By including it into ActiveRecord, users can use LINQ with plain ActiveRecord37 votes
Make NHSearch available in ActiveRecord by including searchable="true" in the configuration.27 votes
Since people do use Castle in medium trust scenarios and building whole stack manually is not the easiest and funniest thing to do, especially given you can't really do it in one go, I suggest we provide medium trust-compatible version of Castle assemblies in binary form, ready to use.26 votes
it is now possible to get APTCA version of castle libraries via horn project:
“horn -install:castle.activerecord -version:2.1.2 -mode:aptca”
please notice that these are not officially supported builds
The StatelessSession feature of NH 2.x allows a performance boost by removing first level cache.
A StatelessSessionScope could make use of stateless sessions to speed up batch processing or read-only-operations.21 votes
It is in trunk
MAKE SURE YOU READ THE TESTS! Stateless sessions don’t support all operations.
Similar to http://nhforge.org/blogs/nhibernate/ it would be cool to have a single aggregated blog (RSS feed) all-things-Castle with posts from committers and community members.
People would have one Castle feed to subscribe to instead of dozen or so blogs.
Bloggers would have greater exposure and feedback for their ideas and tips.
And it would be one, more centralized body of knowledge15 votes
Screencasts can be hosted on any third party service but vimeo seems to provide the best quality. Then aggregate these screencasts to one central place. Railscasts.com is a good example we can follow.13 votes
The is now integrated into the WCF Facilioty
As more and more projects make use of sophisticated features from Castle we depend more and more on it.
As this is OSS documentation is often not enough and we need to sometimes go through the code, unfortunately at the moment PDBs are not being generated nor distributed with every Castle release.10 votes
.pdbs are generated by daily builds now.
Will be added to next releases
Add SQLite and a baseclass for in-memory-tests without any hassle.9 votes
Throwing it here, to see if people demand it.9 votes
This is now supported by Core and Windsor. Does not make sense for MonoRail, not sure if possible for ActiveRecord (NHibernate would have to support it first). So I’m closing it as completed.
I'm talking about DynamicProxy here, but it's probably similar in other projects.
Using debugger with DP is not as neat as it could be. Certain types should have DebuggerDisplayAttribute or debugger proxies... Do you think that's useful? Is there anything else you'd wanna see, or any particular types that need this?8 votes
This has been implemented in v2.5 with further improvements in later releases
Add support for async calls from client side (similar to what can be done with SvcUtil-generated proxies), when using channelfactory and intereface contract only.7 votes
This is now integrated into the WCF Facility
- Don't see your idea?
